This was my 3rd year design project that I completed alongside 4 other group members. What you see here is 6-bar linkage shelf with a driving mechanism shown on the bottom left. Designed for a moving load of 400lbs, every single component in this picture was analyzed to remain structurally sound with a safety factor of 4 when the shelf is in motion. This included the joints, members, welds, and the aluminum sheets used to hold up the weight.
All analysis here was done using classic stuctural mechanics.
